Back

I almost can't believe I didn't post for like half a year. I didn't drop from the earth however. I had a rough year. But it is almost over, so I'm starting with a fresh start. And crafting is most certainly a big part of it for 2013. I crafted today for the first time in months and I loved every minute of it. All my creativity came back, a lot of new idea's but I guess that will be for next year. So excited!

Simon Says Stamp & show the depth of distress

For me it is all about the distress lines. I love the products and the techniques, in my eyes it is all about mastering the techniques and then combine them.

In my piece for this week I took a frame where I used the crackle paint with the distress stains, this effect is one of my favourites.  For inside the frame I used the paint dabber resist technique where I stamped with paint dabber first and then I blended out 4 colours distress ink ( 2 spring & 2 summer colours) they are complementing each other so well, that I couldn't resist.

I like it like it is, but I could also pop it in a picture frame but I fear that the crackle effect will be a bit lost by the glass in front of it.

Tim Holtz Creative chemistry 101 - Day 5

For me this day had a few new techniques that I never performed, so I enjoyed doing those a lot.

Tim Holtz Creative chemistry 101 - Day 4

The techniques used that day are fantastic, I adore them. Can't tell you much about how it is done, but I'll show you the result.

Tim Holtz Creative chemistry 101 - Day 3

My executions of the techniques Tim showed the 3rd day. I had to improvise some because I didn't had all the supplies available to me but never the less I enjoyed doing the technique itself and that is what it is about isn't it.

Simon Says Stamp & show a bit of brown

For the Simon Says Stamp & show a bit of brown challenge I made a tag. The colour in the tag are from the new Summer Distress Ink and the browns are vintage photo and gathered twigs.

Tim Holtz Creative chemistry 101 - Day 2

I enjoyed this series a lot and finally I got around to take pictures, so the first day wasn't really a lesson to take pictures of, but day 2 it was. I had soo much fun making the tags. For all the techniques and how it is done I gladly refer to the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 course.

Simon Says Stamp & Show Some Texture

I always wanted to take part in this challenge but didn't dare doing it. This time I was so inspired that I jumped right in and made this little canvas (20 cm by 20 cm; about 8 by 8).

I just love the texture of the painted bubble wrap and I always enjoy working with those little flowers, they give a nice dimension to the work.

In the picture you can see that her lipstick is in a little heart shape. To give this some extra attention I added some white glass beads in a heart shape.

I also put on a Tim Holtz Philosophy Tag and a Tim Holtz Pen Nib.

The picture I used comes from a Dutch magazine
"Photo Digitaal Uitgave 27"
and is copyrighted by James Nader.

12 tags of 2012 – may…

Here is my version of the may tag.  I must say the only tissue paper where I could stamp on was this pink one the others have a print that is quit busy so I couldn't use them.  This made the whole feeling of the tag.
An other thing I learned is that stamping with really wet ink pads isn't the best as it bleeds a bit (or a lot depending on how wet it still is). So all in all I like what it has become...

Creative Jump Start 2012 - Nathalie Kalbach

The first page is an fight the resistance page, and I must say that even though I'm not a full time artist, I have moments that the resist-factor is playing too. When you had a long day at work and you say 'oh no not today...' and the next day you make just the same excuse. So the resist video spoke a lot to me.
The video about Street art made me think about the graffiti that I see every day when I commute to work in the train. It is graffiti or even just paint on the grey concrete railway bridges, no beautiful designs, just raw text, names, emotions...

Creative Jump Start 2012 - Anna Björklund

A very inspiring Jump start about curves and repeating the same pattern again.
I had a lot of fun playing around with it.

Creative Jump Start 2012 - Karen Grunberg

The Jump Start Tip from Karen Grunberg was about sitting @ your desk and getting your stuff out and starting to craft.
So I got my Claudine Helmutt Studio Paints out and dit the background, I was so happy playing around with those paints again, and I totally love the effect of the background. Then I stamped it all over with this tiny rose stamp I had laying around on my craftdesk.  It gave this really fun looking wall paper effect.
I found this cool picture in a magazine that I just had to use. And I finished it off with some basic prima flowers and some glass beads.
I'm so glad with the result, I just adore it.

Creative Jump Start 2012 - Catherine Scanlon

The Jump Start of Catherine Scanlon was about Art Journaling, and that Inspired me to make this page. I may add some picture later on but as I don't have one that I feel should go at the page at this moment I'll leave it like that.

Hobbyfarm Sketch Challenge - May

Ok, here it goes, I decided to take part in the May challenge, normally I would wait for them to post the entry, but I simply can't wait to share.
Oh and I gave myself an extra challenge by doing the lay-out with the "less is more" principle in mind.

The picture is not the best quality as I couldn't keep my camera straight but it is clear enough I thike (and hope).

Creative Jump Start 2012 - Carmen Sanchez

In January I did the Creative Jump Start, or rather I started, because I lost track pretty soon.
But now I'm picking up and continue with the project. I had some things made that weren't photographed, so I took care and will post them here the coming time.

This is what I made of the technique Carmen Sanchez showed. I had so much fun executing it.

12 tags of 2012 - April

Ok, as you all know I follow the 12 tags of 2012 series by Tim Holtz. I always try to make the tag, with the materials I have at my disposal.

My April tag was a bit of a struggle as I was very nervous for the technique that Tim used. I didn't cut out a shape like Tim did, as I have all this grungeboard shapes that I bought a long time ago that are unused, and i found it the perfect moment to bring it out.
The tag has a very obvious twist of my own and I like it a lot.

Quick Message

I really should update my blog here, I have some cool tags I did that I want to share, but as always, life is crazy and I rather spent time crafting instead of taking pictures of the thing I already did.
But I will get to it (soon).

Creative Jump Start Summit 2012 #1

So I'm following the Creative Jump Start Summit 2012 invented by Nathalie Kalbach, and I absolutely love it. It has my creative juces flowing like mad. I start looking at everything with new eyes. I have so many idea's in my head now that it's really crazy.

Back to the Creative Jump Start, the first  Jump Starter that had the honer off kicking off the Jump Start was Dina Wakley. She told us to warm up this inspired me to do the first page in my "summit book".

And it also left me with some cool pieces that I can use later.
